Dealing with inappropriate online content

How should I deal with inappropriate, inaccurate or harmful content about me on the internet or on a mobile?

Whilst most of your students are using new technologies in a positive and responsible way, a minority might be misusing them.

Attracted by the apparently anonymous nature of the Web and the scale and speed of email, mobiles and Web sites, they might use them to make negative comments or post inappropriate images of you, for example.

Of course, internet providers can trace users through their unique IP addresses and mobile providers will have records of calls and texts made, but that won't stop some people from assuming they are posting content anonymously.

It's therefore important that you know what action to take if you come across inappropriate, inaccurate or harmful content about you online.

So, in this section, we answer some of the questions you might have about social networking and teachers rating sites in particular.
