Resources and infrastructure

What do I need to know about ICT and e-safety resources and infrastructure?

Integrating ICT in your school environment involves a number of decisions - about the equipment you invest in, the technical support staff will offer, and the health and safety implications of the ICT infrastructure.

You no doubt have questions about everything from what Web filters are on the school computers to how you can ensure you store data safely on various devices.

Where can I find out more?

  • South West Grid for Learning has produced 360 degree safe, a free online tool to help schools review their e-safety provision and develop an action plan
  • You should also check whether your school or Local Education Authority partners with any expert organisations in this field and find out which of your colleagues have overall responsibility for ICT, e-safety and anti-bullying. Please let them know about this website, if they haven't come across it before.
  • If you want some hands-on help, contact Childnet and talk to them about their Kidsmart Activity Days and if you want to talk to other teachers about ICT and e-safety issues, go to Becta's Safetynet discussion group
