Leadership

What are the implications for the school's leadership and management team?

School leaders and senior managers have overall responsibility for their school's ICT strategy and, along with the governing body, are ultimately responsible for the e-safety of their students.

The ICT strategy should be driven by the potential educational outcomes and should take into account how to engage and protect students, how to support staff, and how to involve other stakeholders, such as parents, governors and the local authority.

Becta recommends that a member of the senior management team is designated e-safety co-ordinator, acting as a central point of contact for all e-safety issues, taking responsibility for policies in this area, monitoring and reporting any breaches of e-safety guidelines, and leading on professional development for all staff on this topic.
